In my last installment of promoting friends because they are just that good - Santa or Satan depending on who you ask gave me the ultimate gift of healing. I decided to end my days of getting inked with a very personal tattoo and the number 7. Maxime Büchi creative director of Sang Bleu and Novembre Magazine is known for having a very intricate eye in all things art and fashion but he's also a brilliant tattoo artist. I knew the minute Maxime was coming to San Francisco I wanted him to do work on me. I went with the Sacred Geometry symbol : Flower of Life after my Grandmother passed away last week. I'm not really sure where this sudden urge of wanting to channel resort came from but suddenly I want to embrace these neon shades and Navajo prints. It could be a California thing or the need to go on a much needed vacation on a beach, nevertheless designers are also feeling this way as everyone from House of Holland to even the conservative Bottega Veneta are embracing these looks. I don't think I would personally step out in a Navajo print dress since I'm Latin and that would be ironic however I'm defiantly feeling adding color to all black, as I've already bought a neon fuchsia top from Maison Martin Margiela this season. In this edition of "How to Dress" I pay great respect to one of my great fashion influences LouLou de la Falaise who sadly passed away last week. LouLou was the muse to Yves Saint Laurent as well as the jewelry designer for the French fashion house. The British born LouLou got her start at American Vogue in the 1960s and then headed over to Paris in the 1970s to start her career at Yves Saint Laurent while befriending the late designer. The two were always together reminiscent of the great friendship Carine Roitfeld shares with Tom Ford. LouLou style was impeccable and many of the young " It" girls have referenced her style throughout the years. Below are some of my favorite looks and show how dynamic this great muse was.

For the love of art: FRIEZE London In Pictures

Frieze London as usual causes the most frenzy with everyone wanting to score a ticket to the art fair and fashion parade. On opening night one couldn't tell if indeed it was an art show or fashion show as names such as Alber Elbaz, Raf Simons, Natalia Vodianova, Valentino, Daphne Guinness, and Gwen Stefani just to name few showed up causing bloggers and paparazzi to cause a frenzy. Compared to FIAC, Frieze was quite the spectacle and more POP. All the art presented was over the top and extravagant with the art trend focused on neon's as there were many by Tracey Emin and Glenn Ligon ( Negro Sunshine happens to be a favorite) adorning the stark white fair walls. In the Frame section where Frieze was hosting the contemporary galleries there was lots action and movement as collectors were looking to find the next big thing. Below are some of my favorite pieces from Frieze as well as some that make you wonder if it's really supposed to be art at all?

So sorry for the out of focus photos but my friend was having a terrible case of the shakes and couldn't get it together. I should also point out she doesn't get star struck -it's just that lately her hands just shake all the time. Dover Street Market is my favorite place in London and the service is top! I had Carine Roitfeld sign her limited edition book titled " Irreverent" which I will post photos of soon. I've met Carine in the past and have to say she's one of the nicest people in the fashion industry. Her energy is uplifting and she makes everyone feel special which is a fabulous personality trait only few have and can master authentically . In the background though is this awesome man who took me over to have my book signed right away ( I was the first person) and would like to send a virtual THANK YOU to him .

For the love of art: FIAC art fair 2011 from the Grand Palais

I'm back rested; inspired, and beaming from all the art I was exposed to during my 3 wk vacation in both London and Paris. My computer passed away (RIP) and just recently was able to pull my images allowing me to get back to business and report from the fairs. It's no surprise there is so much art, artists, and galleries out there. The frenzy of Frieze in London (pictures to come tomorrow) surely didn't stop collectors from coming to FIAC. In fact so many attended FIAC that on VIP night organizers asked galleries to stay open an extra 2 hours to accommodate the masses booing outside waiting to come in. This year FIAC was grouped together in the historical Grand Palais divided into two sections. There were the upper galleries downstairs which hosted the big names such as Pace Gallery, Luhring Augustine, Gagosian Gallery, Marian Goodman, etc each showing outstanding pieces easily recognizable to all. My favorite artist at FIAC was shown at Pace Gallery - Michal Rovner. The Israeli born artist's mystical work projected images of people on stones which served as an eye, mind, and soul palette cleanser throughout the over stimulation FIAC presented. In fact Pace Gallery work for the most was that of the mystical, which is genius, considering that through the current economical state perhaps a purchase infused with consciousness is good for the collectors soul. Pace reported that within minutes of opening night they sold so much that it was" fascinating"- I say pure genius. In the upstairs part of the Grand Palais the emerging galleries showed work of young artists on the verge of something big. Having learned from the FIAC mistake of last year showing the emerging galleries in a tent at the Lourve and hearing complaints of collectors not wanting to travel to see art the light bulb went off. Among the many galleries upstairs that stood out and had interesting works were New Galerie, Silverman Gallery, and Office Baroque. Silverman Gallery from San Francisco showed artist Shannon Finnley whom's work consisted of geometric shapes hypnotizing and drawing the spectator in and was a sold out show. New Galerie is anything but new as this Parisian established gallery showed artist Florian Schmidt and Ryan Trecartin whose video work is currently being exhibited along with Lizzie Fitch at Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville. Leave it Office Baroque to have a crowd with both collector and Fiac security staring and scratching its head viewing artist Leigh Ledare work that consisted of his mother. Remember the " Empowered Woman" featuring Nadja Auermann back in 1994 shot by Helmut Newton? Just about everyone in the fashion industry has been influenced by this stunning fashion spread featured in VOGUE. There's a new take on it via French Revue de Modes by photographer Ishi featuring model Naty Chabanenko . The clothing are spectacular with designers such as CHANEL, Gucci, Maison Martin Margiela, and many more adding a dose of texture and architecture element to the shoot accessorised with body armor. Perhaps this brave new woman will feel empowered by the shield designer clothing provide? Either way those metal pieces are beyond amazing makes me wish I would have purchased that metal corset by Dolce & Gabbana at a sample sale years ago- totally would have been relevant today!

One of my favorite new designers out of London is Mary Katrantzou. Her designs are stunning and the perfect conversation piece. I myself recently purchased one of her dresses and can't wait to have it make it's debut. Mary Katrantzou mixes elements of the past and present with her silhouettes and silk screened textiles. For Mary Katrantzou's debut collection most of the designs featured 3-d silk screens of room interiors with a node to the tradition of baroque and corset styles that would make a modern Marie Antoinette gasp with excitement. The collection for S/S 2012 has a artist element behind it with the focus on being flowers very reminiscent of Andy Warhol and Gerhard Ricther. Last night I attend the SF/20 opening which showcases the best in San Francisco home furniture design, vintage jewelry, and art. It's one of those moments where you are reminded that there is personal style within San Francisco. Yes there were women dressed in the typical adorned with the red sole shoe but in a sea of style there was one woman who stood out. Her name is Amanda Michael and owns the restaurant Jane. Her outfit was to die for x 1,000 - dressed in a polka dot body stocking by Ruffian, vintage Comme des Garcons dress, and sky high Charlotte Olympia shoes. It was effortless style which combined charm, sexiness, opulence, and glamour. In fact it was current and totally feeding my polka dot fetish. Lets talk bling the language I love and one of my favorite designers HOORSENBUHS, try saying that 8 times fast. These new designers might have a outlandish name but the line represents lifestyle too. To the eye it's reminiscent of old school Gucci but to the modern eye it about links in abundance. HOORSENBUHS is all about luxury and connecting riches to riches with distinct style in their design. The TriLink is horizontal for those who live the life of leisure, luxury and overall represents strength, quality, and opulence. I had the pleasure of trying these on at Elizabeth Charles and of course I can't get them out of my mind as you can see in the picture below my ultimate dream would be STACKING. I can't decide which one is my personal favorite which is why I covered my hands in them . Of all the trends for fall one of my favorite is the polka dot. I can't stand glitter and for the most don't care for sequin ( prom dress nightmares) . There's something special about the polka dot especially when it's done right. For the most part it's nostalgic of the 90's. I remember looking through vintage Vogues and seeing the bold pattern of the polka dot paired with bright yellow. I'm not suggesting one goes out and pairs the two these days unless of course you're a drag queen at a piano bar but picking the polka dot as a bold accent is fun. I adore the Stella McCartney cat suit and on a weekend trip to Barneys I tried on the dress version and melted- I so want to be that girl !!. Sadly the price is beyond my budget I just couldn't bring myself to purchase a dress for that much $$$$ but it was lovely to play dress up. Good thing designers are tapping into the trend with so many choices . I'll polka dot pop my intro to the land with Woldford stocking's- pictures to come!

Of all the shows so far at NYFW there is only one collection that has struck such a dynamic impact on me - that collection is by The Row. By now we all know the Olsen Sisters design the brand and are creative directors. What started as a simple line with just the perfect T-shirt has now matured into a full blown Women's Ready To Wear Collection. Throughout the years we have witnessed the sisters grow up and remove themselves from the spotlight concreating on their craft. The Row's collection for Autumn was such a opulent hit with furs, exotic skins, lace, etc that come Spring The Row's collection was about simplicity meets luxury in all ethereal colors. I adore the collection as it fuses some of the many silhouette's made famous by the countless masters of the Avante Garde. With so much day glo throughout the runways it's nice to come back and reclaim uniqueness by being simple. There was plenty of chiffon, silk , cotton, and the perfect silk champagne nude dress with a massive embellished neckline reminiscent of the Orient and the memorable Kimono that would even make Hatsumo of Memoirs of a Geisha weep with desire. With all the abundant access the Olsen Twins have perhaps for Spring its about the luxury of simplicity . Is it a return to being annoynmsly wealthy while still being devastating chic? Who knows After all wasn't Malcom McLaren who declared" Luxury stains everything it touches".

Not since Dita Von Teese have I seen a waist cinched down to what looks like 10 inches but as history shows Ethel Granger was the first. In the new Vogue Italia Steven Meisel captures model Stella Tennant in " The discipline of fashion" showing us a certain sacrifice in corsetry. I'm a huge fan of the corset although I myself would never wear it BUT I love admiring them on others. Alexander McQueen showed them often throughout his collections and Dolce & Gabbana did them in metal. On Tuesday I finally received my copy of the Visionaire #60 book curated by Riccardo Tisci titled

" Religion". The book is absolutely stunning made of heavy wood and opens up to reveal a beautiful book with such moving images inspired by all things religion. Religion is often a heavy subject to express verbally because it's so passionate and as much as the popular masses would like to say there is right or wrong in retrospect there really isn't. Obviously being Italian Riccardo Tisci was raised a Roman Catholic so throughout the book the Virgin Madonna often shows up. Angels are also a subject Mr. Tisci touches upon. The first part of the book is rather timid but the second half of the book might reveal the dogma associated with organized religion. I don't want to give away too much so I decided to pick out a few photos that stood out from the book although there is so much more. I definitely recommend anyone who is a fan of both Givenchy and Riccardo Tisci to collect this gorgeous book as there are only 3000 of these rare beauties. Now if only I could get Mr. Riccardo Tisci himself to sign a copy ...
